Bake It Back

Super productive day off. Laundry. Gym. Baked a banana cream pie & two strawberry rhubarb pies. Baked several gluten free fruit tarts. Made strawberry rhubarb syrup to flavor my seltzer & used the fruit pulp to make spelt muffins with a pistachio & oat streusel. Made dinner & lunch for tomorrow. Delivered all the sweets. Time to sleep again.

Today I saw a little kid carrying a Box Car Children book & I remembered how much I idolized that series when I was younger. While I read a lot because the library was free and we didn’t have access to anything else, that was the only book series that I related to because the kids seemed a lot like me. They were poor and dirty and it wasn’t weird that I had to take baths in a metal tub outside or carry jugs of water from a nearby stream to drink because they did it too.
While it probably romanticizes being poor to a lot of middle & upper class kids like the one I saw reading it in the wealthiest county of the state, I can only hope that it makes them understand a little bit too.

Philly mini-vacation was great. Vedge is awesome. I love Little Baby’s. I can’t wait to live in that beautiful city.
Scheduling myself for seven days in a row was a mistake.
Haven’t really slept in two nights. Starting to feel pretty loopy but seeing Pentagram was worth it.
Stoked that Easter is over. So tired of decorating egg cookies.
Need more free time to bake more sweets for my friends.
I am gonna turn 26 soon & that’s really weird.
Going back to Tennessee and seeing my family for the first time in a year and a half is also gonna be pretty weird.

When you break into tears & you’re not even sure what you are crying about

you are allowed to terminate toxic relationships

you are allowed to walk away from people who hurt you

you are allowed to be angry and selfish and unforgiving

you don’t owe anyone an explanation for taking care of yourself
